the essential
Caroline and Lisa, from the Les 3 Dindes shelter, are going to Spain to help animals affected by the floods. We met them at the Moissac depot before their big departure on Wednesday November 30, 2024.
Pallet transports continue in this warehouse of a company located in Moissac (the location is kept secret), this Friday, November 15, at the beginning of the afternoon. Caroline and Lisa Fernandez have just received a large delivery of dehydrated hay.
They go back and forth in an electric pallet truck. An activity not necessarily obvious for the two volunteers from the Les 3 Dindes shelter, whose premises are located in Honor-de-Cos, but oh so important.

Because they must soon go to the Valencia region, in Spain, to deliver food for hungry animals, after the deadly floods of October 29. The big departure for the two “girls” is planned for this Wednesday, November 20, from the depot located in Moissac.
Nearly 6,000 euros in donations collected
In total, the two volunteers unloaded 14 pallets on the Moissagais site, which serves as a depository for the shelter's donations. That’s 13 tons of merchandise in total. Donations which are still likely to arrive before the end of the collection scheduled for next Tuesday. On each pallet there are around fifty 20 kg bags. Inside the contents there is dehydrated hay.
“With the floods, there is no more grass in the fields. For the animals, it allows them to eat,” explains Lisa Fernandez, the shelter manager, while unloading.
For this solidarity mission, the two women work tirelessly and appeal to the generosity of donors: “We no longer have room at the shelter. So we found another site in Moissac. People are responding. There really is a chain of solidarity. It's pretty incredible. »

The proof is that the participatory prize pool posted online made it possible to collect nearly 6,000 euros in donations. A figure that will certainly increase as the days go by. Until the big departure, next Wednesday.
“They need us”
The two volunteers must take the road from the Uval city, direction the Valence region. On board a 19-ton truck for Lisa Fernandez and a pick-up made available by a partner for two other shelter volunteers, including Caroline.
“At the moment, we don’t realize the extent of the damage there. But once there, it will be a shock,” says the volunteer, impatient to be able to deliver food and equipment for farm animals and other equines.
A mission that makes sense for Caroline: “Animals are the last wheel of the carriage. They need us. »
