Laura didn't have time to go to the maternity ward. The young woman gave birth to a little boy during the night from Friday to Saturday in her vehicle, reports La Voix du Nord. While it is not so rare to give birth in your car, it is more exceptional for it to happen twice in the space of a year.
Laura and her partner, Régis, living in Contalmaison in the Somme, took the road around 1:40 a.m. Friday towards the maternity ward of the Arras hospital center located around thirty kilometers away. But little Loëvann didn't give them time to reach their destination. He was born on the side of a road in Boiry-Sainte-Rictrude (Pas-de-Calais), 25 kilometers from their home and only ten from the maternity ward.
The little family was finally able to reach the Arras hospital without any further twists and turns on the road. The mother and her young child, who weighs 3.285 kg and measures 50.5 cm, are in good health.
It must be said that the couple is starting to get used to car births. “A year ago, we already experienced this same situation, this time on the Arras ring road, not far from Auchan where our daughter Leanne was born before arriving at the maternity ward. So we’re used to it,” the father tells La Voix du Nord. The happy news filled the mayor of the town with joy, who had not recorded a new birth since 1980.
Although impressive, car births are far from exceptional. In February, little Nolan was born in his parents' car, just after the Kerustum roundabout in Quimper (Finistère).
In October, a resident of Yvelines gave birth to a little Victoria alongside her husband on the emergency lane of the A13 motorway.
