Essonne: police officers victims of violent attack during an arrest – LINFO.re

Members of the police were attacked with hatchets and dog bites during an arrest in a house located in Savigny-sur-Orge (Essonne). One of them was seriously injured.

Last Thursday, a police crew from Juvisy-sur-Orge went to an apartment in Savigny-sur-Orge in theEssonne to arrest five individuals suspected of trafficking crack and cocaine.

An intervention that goes wrong

Three people went there to apprehend suspects linked to drug cases. The operation quickly degenerated. Two police officers were bitten by a dog and a third was hit with a hatchet, particularly on the shoulder and knee. The latter had to be transported to hospital. The violence of this assault shocked the police. “This level of violence is unheard of“, said a police officer. For him, attacking a police officer with a bladed weapon constitutes attempted murder.

Following these incidents, seven people were arrested, including two suspected drug buyers. According to information relayed by CNEWSthe Évry public prosecutor's office has opened an investigation into attempted murder of a person holding public authority.

A climate of tension

These events reinforce the feeling of insecurity felt by the police. Claude Carillo, departmental secretary of the Alliance Police nationale union, also denounced these violence recurring, highlighting the increasing difficulty of police work.

This assault in Savigny-sur-Orge once again illustrates the dangerousness of the police profession. THE violence against law enforcement are increasing, causing great concern within police unions.
