The owner of the tabby cat who attacked a resident of Bongraine on Sunday October 27 has been found. This 3-year-old feline, which has become the subject of discussion in the neighborhood, belongs to a neighbor of the victim, residing on rue Nicolas-Gargot. Denise Barbier, the person attacked, describes her astonishment at the situation: “Given his size, I suspected that there was someone feeding him. » She conducted some research herself to understand where the animal came from.

A transition to the campaign in question?

According to Sud-Ouest, the cat's owner had recently made the decision to accustom her to living outdoors, in anticipation of a move to the countryside. This sudden change may have played a determining role in the feline's unusual aggressiveness. “She was very annoyed for me and at the same time very surprised because her cat had never shown any aggression,” confides Denise Barbier. According to her, this decision to leave the cat outside, without its familiar environment, could be one of the reasons for the attack. “Maybe he was unhappy not to be at home? Which could have made him aggressive,” she suggests.

A complex situation for the owner

The incident highlighted the difficulties some pet owners face during major transitions. The decision to let the cat adapt to outdoor life was intended to prepare for his departure for the countryside, but it had unexpected repercussions for the neighborhood. Denise Barbier's attack, although surprising, seems to be the result of a mixture of stress and disorientation in the feline.

This case highlights the importance of considering the behavioral needs of animals, particularly during periods of transition. While the owner and Denise Barbier were able to discuss the incident, it remains an example of the challenges of adapting pets to new living conditions.
