A resident of Scaër (Finistère), aged 37, was arrested on Tuesday November 12, 2024, as part of a vast investigation into a child crime network.
The thirty-year-old from Finistère was presented to the Brest public prosecutor's office, competent in this matter, two days later and a judicial investigation was opened against him. He is notably suspected of rape and aggravated sexual assault on minors. The Brest prosecutor, who shared this information in a press release, did not reveal the date of the events, nor the link between the victims and the alleged attacker. The accused was placed in pre-trial detention following his indictment.

The investigation was first carried out on a larger scale. Investigators from the Minors Office of the National Directorate of Judicial Police managed to infiltrate Telegram messaging groups, places where child criminal content is exchanged. Nearly 10,000 child criminals, from 50 different countries, were identified.
“Certain groups with restricted access were the subject of priority investigations, their members presenting themselves as producers of videos of sexual abuse committed against minors around them”specifies the press release from the prosecution.
Four people were particularly targeted in this context, including the Scaërois, already convicted for acts of another nature.
“Telegram is a very popular platform in the pedophile sphere,” recalls the prosecution. The arrest of its CEO this summer would have facilitated the identification of the alleged attackers.
