Conditions could be dangerous on the roads. Forecast.
Return of a system
The system that dumped rain earlier this week in Quebec is moving back west after stalling near the coast. This unusual scenario risks causing an episode of freezing rain in certain regions from Friday to Saturday. A warning has been issued for certain sectors of Gaspésie and the North Shore. Even if it was a minor episode, it could cause trouble on the roads.
Slippery roads
Freezing precipitation would begin to fall during the night from Thursday to Friday, but it is especially Friday morning in Gaspésie that the ice would accumulate. These are the inland areas most at risk since the mercury would be below freezing. Along the coast, rain could appear earlier with milder temperatures. However, in the afternoon, precipitation should be liquid for the entire region. Caution will therefore be required Friday morning on routes 299, 198 and even on 132 east of Sainte-Anne-des-Monts.
Another episode
Another episode of freezing rain would affect the Côte-Nord region up to Saguenay from Friday evening to Saturday morning. It is especially the inland areas that are the most vulnerable due to colder temperatures. Once again, the roads could be partially icy in places until Saturday, notably Route 389.
