A pro-Palestinian demonstration launched at the initiative of left-wing political parties (LFI, EELV, NPA) and associations was held this Wednesday, November 13 in the streets of Paris, where several thousand participants marched to denounce the holding the gala of the association “Israel is forever», an international right-wing Jewish movement. The latter announced on Sunday that he was planning a rally on Wednesday in Paris to fight against anti-Semitism, on the eve of a tense match between France and Israel.

Pro-Palestinian demonstrators, who left from Saint-Lazare station (8th arrondissement), marched through the streets. «Smotrich assassin, Macron complice», “Liberate Palestine” or even “Israel get out of there, Palestine is not yours”the crowd chanted.

After some tensions with the police around the station – the latter used tear gas to repel virulent individuals – the protesters damaged a MacDonald restaurant and a Starbucks brand (9th arrondissement), located on Boulevard Montmartre. .

According to videos by independent journalist Luc Auffret on X, tags were written on the front of the American fast food multinational. “Accomplice”, «Boycott», «Free Palestine» were written in red paint. The windows were also broken. The procession then resumed its route towards Place de la République.

Gathering near Place de l’Etoile

Near the Place de l'Etoile, several dozen people gathered, coming at the call of organizations such as SOS Racisme in particular, some of them carrying signs: “Smotrich, fascist, we don’t want him”according to an AFP journalist. Among the crowd, some left-wing political figures like Clémentine Autain, Alexis Corbière and Raquel Garrido.
