This Sunday, firefighters from the Bretenoux Fire and Rescue Center were urgently called to assist an expectant mother residing in the town of Biars-sur-Cère, in the Lot department. Faced with this exceptional situation and the urgency of the birth, the crew of the VSAV (Victim Rescue and Assistance Vehicle) made the decision to stop at the side of the road in order to be able to assist the young mother. whose contractions were getting stronger and stronger.
An uncomplicated delivery
With the help of a firefighter nurse and the Saint-Céré Smur team, the VSAV team carried out the birth under telephone assistance from the on-call expert firefighter-midwife. Fortunately, everything went perfectly well and there were no complications.
Shortly after the birth of the perfectly healthy 3.7 kg little boy, the VSAV set off again towards the maternity ward, where the mother and her baby were expected to be taken care of and receive the necessary follow-up examinations.
