how the former prime minister is preparing for 2027

It's not because he left Matignon that he left politics. Gabriel Attal extends his political power. President of the group of deputies Together for the Republic (EPR), candidate for the presidency of Renaissance, the former prime minister has just launched his foundation to fight against school bullying.

Is Gabriel Attal still part of the lineage of Emmanuel Macron's successors? Is he preparing for the next presidential election in 2027? Gabriel Attal is “building political power for the immediate and the future”, explains Olivier Bost, head of RTL's political department.

“For the immediate future, this will allow him both to be in the role of leader of the deputies, that is to say to be in direct contact with the Prime Minister and influence current policy. And with the party for the future, to organize very widely a political power that needs to develop, with a local presence which is today very insufficient”, estimates the presenter of the Grand Jury RTL, Le Figaro, Public Sénat, M6.

Renaissance, a stable for 2027?

In the Assembly, is Gabriel Attal an ally for Michel Barnier's government? The EPR deputy “will blow hot and cold constantly because he needs a political victory to maintain his base united”, analyzes Olivier Bost. “There is a real challenge for Gabriel Attal, it is to succeed in keep your deputies and arrive at gburn a unit which is not that obvious,” he adds.

Gabriel Attal is also the only candidate to lead the Renaissance party. Élisabeth Borne was also interested in the position, but there was a deal with Gabriel Attal. Who benefits?

“Élisabeth Borne did not lose out. She actually withdrew her candidacy. She still had a good operation since she recovered almost one in four positions in the political party's organizational chart. The Élysée, Emmanuel Macron, did not want to have a leadership battle for the party. He also didn't want Gabriel Attal to get everything back. Nobody wanted Gabriel Attal instantly transforms their political family into a stable presidential election for him and only for him,” says Olivier Bost.
