Cooperation in digital transition at the center of discussions between Morocco and Portugal

Lisbon – Moroccan-Portuguese cooperation in the field of digital transition was at the heart of discussions held on Tuesday in Lisbon between the Minister Delegate in charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, and the Portuguese Secretary of State for Modernization and Digitalization, Alberto Rodrigues da Silva.

These exchanges took place in the presence of the Moroccan ambassador to Portugal, Othmane Bahnini on the sidelines of the “World Web Summit”, which continues until November 14 in the Portuguese capital. They focused on ways to strengthen cooperation and coordination in the areas of digital technology, information technology and the digitalization of administration.

During this meeting, Ms. El Fallah Seghrouchni presented the national strategy “Morocco Digital 2030”, launched last September, and reviewed the Kingdom’s digital transformation projects, in particular the development of the digital economy and support for start-ups, education and scientific research.

She also expressed Morocco’s desire to learn about the Portuguese experience in local administration to promote citizens’ access to digital public services, with emphasis on projects such as “large language models”. (LLM), a giant linguistic model aimed at strengthening digital innovation and artificial intelligence and the “AI Factory”, a factory dedicated to artificial intelligence.

For his part, Mr. Rodrigues da Silva presented Portugal’s digital transformation strategy and the Action Plan for promoting the country’s digital transition by 2030. He stressed that this strategy aims in particular to strengthen the digital infrastructure and transform public administration through the simplification of electronic transactions and supporting start-ups and innovation, while creating an environment conducive to the growth of technology companies.
