Bomb alert: Félix Eboué airport evacuated

A bomb alert was triggered around 3 p.m. this Tuesday, November 12, at Félix Eboué airport, in Cayenne.

Airport control agents detected a suspicious object in a traveler's luggage, the prefecture of Guyana said in a press release.

According to the police, it was cabin baggage and it was during the check that the security officers had doubts.

The procedure was then initiated, the prefect activated the zone operational center (COZ).

As a safety measure, the airport was evacuated. The police then came to the scene and cleared up the doubt.

Civil security deminers were activated, but according to our information, they were not engaged.

The airport resumed normal operations around 4 p.m.
