The deadline of March 31, 2025 is inexorably approaching. On this date, if no agreement has been reached, the Corsica regional natural park will have to leave the building Casa Marinaproperty of the municipality of Gallery. The four Park agents would then be re-employed on other missions in the micro-region.
This scenario, which no one wants, would be that of the sudden disappearance of this environmental education center, which welcomes thousands of schoolchildren each year, and makes Galeria and the Park famous.
The worried teams
Between the two stakeholders, discussions launched in February 2024 did not lead to any agreement. The Park no longer wishes to pay the €46,000 annual rent requested by the municipality. The latter agrees to sell Casa Marina, but at a price that the Park does not want to pay. This blocking situation leads to uncertainty which is already harming the proper functioning of this unique educational tool.

The right price
The discussions, sometimes technical, lasted more than an hour between the Park presidency, the agents, elected officials from the town of Manso, but also the mayor of Galeria Jean-Marie Seité and his first deputy Jacqueline Rode. At the end of the meeting, little or no progress.
“We should know, within 15 days, the sale price of Casa Marina set by the estatesrecalls Jean-Marie Seité. If the Park wishes to lower it, it will have to undertake justification work. The rules of the game are simple, and the margins for discussion are very small. This organization, which is responsible for taxes, exists precisely to prevent communities from speculating. This criticism cannot be made of us. “
In the mid-2010s, the municipality acquired Casa Marina for €775,000, notably thanks to subsidies from the region. The Park does not want to invest so much money there. “One thing is certain, after this meeting, the population is now aware of the ins and outs, as well as the position of the mayor and his municipal councilsummarizes Jacques Costa, the president of the Park. The municipality even claims that the Community will buy back the building that it itself subsidized. From now on, I consider that the ball is in the court of the municipality of Galeria. Our goal is to acquire this building. This is the priority, we no longer want to be tenants. We pay €46,000 in rent in 2024. Next year it will be €48,000. We are not going to create the budget for the municipality of Galeria! I will not stick to the price set by the domains. I will negotiate, I will not go beyond €400,000. This amount is added to the rent already received. We will wait until the end of the year to make a decision. If the status quo remains, I will draw conclusions. Once again, the agents do not have to worry about their jobs, they will remain assigned to the Balagne territory. The positions will be maintained. “
