He probably thought he would be safe while driving around Nimes (Gard), towards 2h45on the night of Monday 11 to Tuesday 12 November 2024. It was very little knowing the police officers and their desire, announced with lots of announcements, to intensify day and night, the roadside checks.


An impounded vehicle

This is the mishap that happened to a driver, aged 20 ans. He was traveling at night, on the outskirts of Nimeswhen he was checked by the police on the boulevard du Pasteur Marc Boegner, near the sensitive district of Piss wine.

The individual was traveling at 114 km/h on this artery limited to 50 km/h. His vehicle was taken from him and placed in administrative impound. The young man was interviewed during the night by the Nîmes police officers.

He will soon be summoned to court with a view to of a possible conviction.

Reinforced controls

Last Friday, September 6, Jérôme Bonet, the current Prefect of Gard, clearly announced his decision to intensify road checks throughout the territory.

Since then, the police have increased throughout the Gard to control road users. Many speeding violations were observed.

Between Friday 8 and Tuesday 12 November alone, the Gard police forces carried out several speed control operations and fight against night runs. Various excesses have been noted.

A 21-year-old man was caught on the road to Beaucaire (Gard), Friday November 8 at 9:35 p.m. He was a repeat offender of excess very high speed. He was then traveling at 154 km/h instead of 90 km/h. His vehicle was impounded immediately.

The individual had already been checked in 2023 for similar facts.
