The remark of support from François Hollande about Marine Tondelier caused an outcry on the left. The national secretary of Europe Ecology Les Verts, as well as Olivier Faure (PS), were outraged by such comments on social networks.
The words had the effect of a slap in the face: “Tondelier does the work for LFI, she has a green jacket but her underwear is red,” said an anonymous person close to François Hollande in an article in Liberation. Behind this sentence, a thinly veiled accusation: that of being an unfailing support of La France Insoumise. But for Marine Tondelier, national secretary of Europe Écologie Les Verts (EELV), the attack goes beyond a simple political game. She denounces a sexist, inappropriate and unacceptable remark.
The courageous anonymous person will be able to find his place in the Pantheon of sexism. Not that in the Socialist Party, which is a party that has made feminism its fight.
Dear @marinetondeliermy apologies for these perfectly inappropriate comments that nothing excuses. pic.twitter.com/gQJlpe9x1n— Olivier Faure (@faureolivier)
On “Beyond the dubious and sexist form (which doesn’t really work), the substance of the statement makes no sense,” she is indignant. She reaffirmed that her party is determined “neither in relation to France Insoumise, nor in relation to the Socialist Party […] And if that’s a problem for you, it’s the same thing.”

Speaking to social media and the entire political class, she explained: “Support from a former president should not say that. […] A politician who claims to be a socialist, even less so.” The only female party leader in 2024, she recalls that she has “green and unripe ones”, but this episode remains, according to her, particularly shocking “in 2024, within of the NFP”.
An endorsement from a former president shouldn't say that.
Neither does support from a presidential candidate.
A politician who claims to be a socialist even less so.

Olivier Faure, first secretary of the Socialist Party, immediately distanced himself from these comments. Publicly apologizing to Marine Tondelier, he condemned “inappropriate” remarks. “The courageous anonymous person will be able to find his place in the Pantheon of sexism,” he wrote, before continuing: “Not that in the Socialist Party, which is a party that has made feminism its fight.” The environmentalist leader, touched, simply replied “Thank you”.
