For mid-November 2024, Uniqlo is offering a collection of four graphic tee-shirts representing unique rearrangements of masterpieces from the Louvre Museum by contemporary artist Camille Henrot.
Art, music, photography, design, manga, characters or brands, UT by Uniqlo t-shirts (19.90 euros) transmit a cultural message. Random themes explored: Pokemon, Arcane, League of Legends, Godzilla, etc.
The partnership between Uniqlo and the Louvre Museum, established in January 2021, helps bring art into everyday life. It thus offers a series of collaborative UT t-shirt collections and support from Uniqlo for certain activities intended for the general public, organized within the museum itself.
The four UT The Louvre x Camille Henrot t-shirts create a bridge between classical and contemporary art
The pieces from which Camille Henrot was inspired to create the patterns are not directly identifiable. Nevertheless, explains the press release, “passionate about encyclopedic museums, Camille Henrot carefully chose her favorite works from the Louvre to create her own motifs, through digital and analog collages and graphic interventions.”
The multidisciplinary artist (she films, paints, draws, sculpts) distinguished herself in the production of the film “Gross Fatigue”, which works on the principle of analogical thinking and explores the phenomena of serendipity (the art of making a discovery, scientific in particular, by chance), information overload, as well as the themes of the irrational, madness or euphoria.
His installations have been exhibited at the Palais de Tokyo. “Days Are Dogs” invited visitors to question the relationships of authority, the fictions and the definitions that govern our existence. As an extension of this collaboration, Camille Henrot will produce a chalcography (metal engraving) for the Louvre Museum.
