Espaly-saint-Marcel: The teenager took his sister's car

Monday, November 5, around 1:40 a.m., on the way from Val-de-Riou to Espaly-Saint-Marcel, a night crew from the national police tried to control a motorist who was coming towards him at high speed. The driver, in a Volkswagen Polo, refused control by continuing on his way, and even accelerating. Realizing the maneuver, the officials then deployed a “stop stick” bar as the vehicle passed. The rows of spikes made it possible to stop the vehicle, which stopped around ten meters further on, puncturing its tires. The driver, aged only 16, was unable to present either the vehicle papers, belonging to his sister, nor the driving license which he does not hold. Taken to the police station, he was placed in police custody. Then, he was interviewed the next day by a judicial police officer to whom he revealed that it was not the first time that he had borrowed his sister's vehicle, who was also interviewed. She then confided that she was not aware of her little brother's actions, but that she had doubts. She had hidden her keys after noticing that fuel was regularly missing, but the young man used a duplicate. The boy left the police headquarters with a summons for a criminal hearing before the prosecutor's delegate next January.
