A four-year-old boy was found with his throat slit in Berloz, in the province of Liège, during the night from Saturday to Sunday, said the mayor of Berloz and the Liège public prosecutor’s office. The parents were arrested.

The child was found upstairs in the family home, located in the heart of the commune of Berloz, a French-speaking commune in Belgium located in the Walloon region in the province of Liège.

“A quarrel without violence would have broken out between the boy’s parents”, said Béatrice Moureau, mayor of Berloz. “Later that night, the mother left the scene and the father found the body of his four-year-old son, with his throat cut, in his bedroom.”
A security perimeter was established around the house on Sunday morning. The prosecution currently confirms a suspicious death and the intervention of a third party. “It’s infanticide,” confirmed Catherine Collignon, first deputy of the King of Liège prosecutor.
“The mother was arrested in another police zone”specified the mayor of Berloz.
The father was also arrested. An investigation has been opened. Both parents were still being questioned on Sunday afternoon.
