He will represent the Landes and the entire Nouvelle-Aquitaine region during the final for the best young baker in France. This takes place in Auxerre from November 19 to 21, 2024. His name is Rudy Lavigne, he is 19 years old. This young man from Saint-Pierre-du-Mont (Landes) works in a bakery in Saint-de-Martin-de-Hinx (Landes). And he sees things big for his career!

19 years old but already a track record

Rudy Lavigne is not his first attempt. In October 2024 he was elected best bakery apprentice in France. “It's a source of pride. It took me a while to come back down, I didn't believe it. I realized that people looked at me had changed. Before I was a baker among many others, today I am THE baker among many others”exclaims Rudy with a big smile. He hopes to achieve a double victory by winning the final for the best young baker in France at the end of November in Auxerre.

Dreams of becoming a footballer or soldier replaced by bread and chocolatines

Rudy wasn't necessarily passionate about baking when he was young. “I wanted to represent my country, either by being a policeman, a soldier, or even a footballer”laughs the young man. It was during his 3rd year internship, carried out in a bakery in Saint-Pierre-du-Mont, that he discovered a real passion. “It was at this precise moment that I loved these professions: baking and pastry. This internship was in 2014, and since that date I have never stopped making my passion my work”.

He's already thinking about what's next

“I am young, it is true. But for well-born souls, value does not wait for the number of years.” This quote from the play The Cid by Pierre Corneille, corresponds well to Rudy. Despite his young age, he is already thinking about how his career will end. “I want to train young people later. It’s a profession of sharing and transmission. I will not leave with my recipes in the grave”insists the young man. There is still a long way to go before becoming a teacher, but the Landais is giving himself time to realize his dreams before helping young people realize theirs.
