“My feet tread the ground for the last time.” Le Segréen Fabrice Amedeo advanced serenely on the pontoons of Les Sables-d'Olonne before taking the big start of the Vendée Globe 2024. At the start of his third solo round-the-world trip, the Nexans – Wewise skipper above all wants to complete it. He who, in 2020, was unable to complete it following a technical problem. “I want to please myself, he declared on the pontoons, in front of his boat. I only have one ambition in this Vendée Globe, and that is to have fun. I've come a long way, I was shipwrecked two years ago and we had to start a project again. I want to finish it, it’s my mission. It would be a consecration for me to finish this Vendée Globe.”

After a final night of 6.5 hours, Fabrice Amedeo felt ready and rested for this three-month departure at sea. “We cannot trivialize starting the Vendée Globe. Even when we don’t come to win, it remains an incredible adventure. There is this excitement, the unknown of not knowing how it will happen. The Vendée Globe, I dreamed of it when I was a kid. I didn't think that one day I would do it, here I am on my third start.”
