Make Mont-de-Marsan great again
By coincidence, Frédéric Dutin's declaration of candidacy for the future municipal elections in Mont-de-Marsan, followed by a long interview, was published in our edition of Thursday, November 7. Or the day after the triumphant election of Donald Trump to the White House.
On the front page of the Landes' favorite daily newspaper, readers could therefore see a photo of the two politicians. Not sure that by doing this interview, the elected opposition representative from Mons knew that he was going to share the same page as the President of the United States. The opposite is also true…
Triangle des Bermudes
Still on the subject of this candidacy, the average voter, who follows the political news in his town of Mont-de-Marsan, may wonder where the other socialists have gone. Those who have already led the fight, or those to whom we have been able to attribute a communal destiny.
First there was Jean-Baptiste Savary, at the head of the Nouvel Élan populaire list during the 2020 municipal elections. The elected official is visibly seeking to no longer be on the front line, while swearing that he wants to remain active in the development of the program and the campaign.
But there was also another possibility which animated some. The rumor of a candidacy from Marie-Laure Lafargue, general director of Basket Landes, has long rustled in the streets of Mons. Without it having, for the moment, achieved anything. The memory of the lost battle of the legislative elections – by 887 votes against Geneviève Darrieussecq, in favor of whom she withdrew – has perhaps left its mark… We will therefore see if other candidates will stand on the line of departure for the PS in the last quarter.
A butterfly that doesn't make spring
Horror, Thursday evening, at the end of the Mont-de-Marsan – Biarritz meeting. The yellow and black had nothing to do with it since they brilliantly defeated the Basques. The reason for the anger of some supporters – they have since been reassured – was rather due to the pretty decoration that awaited them on their windshield. A small white square was slipped under the windshield wiper. It read: “A violation of parking regulations has been noted against you.”
A first! A heresy for all those who are used to parking near the temple of the oval, certainly sometimes chaotically (on the sidewalks in particular), and who enjoyed relative tolerance until now. The affair moved many, to the point that the story reached the ears of the Mons municipality.
She communicated, Friday afternoon, on her Facebook account: “We would like to clarify that this is neither a request from the mayor, nor an initiative from the municipal police […] After discussions today with the national police services, we inform you that this operation will not result in the sending of a notice of violation. »
Phew, everyone breathe! Even if some had to swallow their kepi… This little fable will perhaps make elected officials think about the parking difficulties surrounding sporting events both at Stade Montois and Basket Landes on match evenings.
It opens, it closes
The people of Mont raised their eyes to the sky on Tuesday evening when a footbridge weighing almost 13 tonnes rose into the air, before landing above Midou. The crossing was not yet firmly established when elected officials rushed to baptize it with a first crossing. And Charles Dayot was photographed there, arms wide open. Even promoting it on social networks.
What a surprise the next day, when pedestrians who wanted to imitate him found themselves in front of a gate preventing them from entering. Reopened Thursday, it will remain open all weekend. Before being closed again until next weekend, for lighting work. This is what we call a suspension bridge.
