Weather alert: Aude and Hérault placed on Orange alert for floods and storms this evening

“This Friday at the end of the day and during the night from Friday to Saturday, thunderstorms, sometimes strong and accompanied by heavy rain, break out in the Gulf of Lion, particularly from the east of Aude to Hérault, on the coast and in the interior”, alert Météo-France in a bulletin published this Friday, November 8, 2024.

In fact, the forecasting organization has placed the departments of Aude and Hérault on orange alert for thunderstorms and rain-flooding. The storm disturbance is expected to begin at 6 p.m. and will continue through the night.

Up to 180 mm of cumulative rainfall

According to the meteorological agency, the storms will be accompanied by heavy rains whose intensity could reach 50 to 60 mm per hour. As for cumulative rainfall, these should be around 80 to 120 mm, or even 150 to 180 mm locally.
