The 13th campus for trades and qualifications in the forestry and wood Occitanie sector was inaugurated on Tuesday November 5, 2024 at the Aubin high school, by Mostafa Fourar, rector of the Toulouse Academy. In the presence of the mayors of Aubin and Decazeville, the vice-president of the Occitanie region, representatives of the region's partner companies, the operational director Didier Bouvard and the principal François Malgouyres, guided the guests through the high-tech workshops of the wood industry.
Professional baccalaureate and BTS students manufacture here all the parts of the monumental frames worthy of the “Bâtiments de France”, aided by digital machines facilitating the manipulation and shaping of pieces of wood with artistic and industrial precision.
A competitive lever
Georges and Dorian, BTS students, demonstrate the efficiency of the lessons provided under the aegis of their teacher Antonio Hussard. Elsewhere, a “wood crit lab” allows companies to test their products before certification. Finally, the high school presents designer furniture, violins and Arcade terminals that are exact copies of the Pacman games of yesteryear.
“Four years of investigation of the case have finally come to fruition”
François Malgouyres relates: “Four years of processing the file have finally been completed, auguring the success of this sector which allows students to work with their future employers in the best conditions.” The rector of the Academy praises “the visibility and attractiveness of the territory which, thanks to the system, responds to economic challenges and promotes appetite for these professions”thus advocating the “learn by doing.” Didier Bouvard explains that the campus is “a lever to strengthen the competitiveness of the region, and promote professions in the changing sector, bringing out local talents, and wishing to attract them from elsewhere. “
Kamel Chibli, vice-president of the Region in charge of education, youth and sports, says “amazed by the ultra-modern installations and happy with the ecosystem of the building trades thus brought together and the energies deployed. The 19,000 people of the 6,400 companies in the wood sector justify these installations.”
A campus of excellence
Among the 300 Aubin students, the security section and its teacher Pierre Aymeric Tournier, who train future firefighters, gendarmes or security managers within a real professional security PC, complete the demonstration of professionalism of the school by ensuring serenity of the event.
In black, red or navy blue uniforms, armed with their headsets, talkies or emergency care bags, the 25 students of the section ensured the reception, screening and surveillance of the ceremony with seriousness and perfection. François Marty, mayor of Decazeville and president of the community of communes said “drink whey, considering the sums invested by the region and the state in this campus”and thinks that “without a doubt, this will facilitate the reindustrialization of the Basin.” Christine Teulié, mayor of Aubin, closed the speeches welcoming “the presence of such a tool” on its territory.
