The fight against violence against women,
a priority for the Prefect of Charente-Maritime!
On February 9, 2024 in Jonzac, Brice Blondel, Prefect of Charente-Maritime, reaffirmed his desire to intensify actions and measures aimed at preventing and combating intra-family violence (IVF) in Charente-Maritime and in particular violence against women.
Marie-Pierre Lamour, sub-prefect of Saint-Jean d'Angély, is the departmental representative for the fight against sexist, sexual and domestic violence. As such, it makes every effort to promote measures aimed at preventing and caring for victims of domestic violence among a wide audience (associations, elected officials, schools, etc.).
On the occasion of the International Day Against Violence against Women, Monday November 25, 2024, an action and awareness program is deployed throughout the Department (Program currently being finalized, available soon).

We are all affected by violence against women. They affect everyone, directly or indirectly, and can take many forms. One of the ways to fight against this violence is, first of all, to understand it.

The United Nations General Assembly defines violence against women as “all acts of violence directed against the female sex, and causing or likely to cause physical, sexual or psychological harm or suffering to women, including the threat of such acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether in public life or in private life”.
