“Food is a public health issue,” insists the prefect of Val-d’Oise, Philippe Court, who has made the food security of Valdoisiens one of his priorities. It is in this context that a new large-scale operation of health checks was carried out in Garges-lès-Gonesse, Thursday November 7, 2024.
Food and street food stores
In the sights of agents of the Departmental Directorate for the Protection of Populations of Val-d'Oise (Ddpp 95), the food and street food stores.
At the end of their inspections, they ordered the emergency closure of the Green Café restaurant, located 9, avenue du Général-de-Gaulle, after noting several serious violations of hygiene rules. However, these have not been specified.
Destruction of 100kg of food unfit for consumption
In addition, five formal notices for non-compliance were issued, while an administrative report for lack of price was drawn up against one brand. Finally, Ddpp agents proceeded to destroy 100kg of food unfit for consumption.
Since the start of 2024, the prefecture has indicated 1,600 businesses direct food delivery (food department, restaurant, bakery, collective catering, etc.) have been subject to inspection in Val-d'Oise. An objective which was set by Philippe Court a year ago when drawing up an initial assessment following the strengthening of hygiene and health controls carried out in Val-d'Oise.
On November 15, 2023, the State representative announced the closure of 81 establishments (2 nursing homes, 11 bakeries, 11 butchers, 53 restaurants, 3 manufacturing companies or sellers of products on the farm and 1 slaughterhouse), compared to 45 in 2022, at the end of the 546 checks carried out. A number that has tripled this year.
