On October 13, the parishioners of the Saint-Pierre church, in Bagnac-sur-Célé, in the Lot, made a bitter discovery. Several precious metal objects had been stolen there, according to information fromActu.fr.
According to the first elements of the investigation, the misdeeds took place between October 2 and 13. Faced with these findings, the parish of Figeac, in charge of the church, filed a complaint.
A precise inventory carried out in the Lot church
On Tuesday, October 29, a project manager, dispatched by the Lot Department, visited the site in order to establish a detailed inventory of the church's property. After a day of analysis, the expert concluded that most of the objects listed in this place of worship “date from before the Revolution”.
According to the leader of the village's secular team, the work of this mission manager also made it possible to have a precise idea of the damage suffered following these thefts. It would amount to 15,000 euros. Still according to the host, the criminals stole monstrances, patens, chalices and ciboria. In total, twenty-four other churches were the target of theft in the Lot department.
