Tchaikovsky's famous ballet from the Paris Opera, choreographed by Rudolf Nureyev, arrives for the first time in cinemas around the world. Thanks to IMAX technology, the ballet can be seen in 230 cinemas on November 10, 2024, after a premiere this Friday, November 8.
You have not had the opportunity to discover Swan Lake of theParis Opera ? It is possible to remedy this by going to watch it in one of the 230 cinemas showing it this Friday 8 at 7 p.m. and this Sunday, November 10 at 4 p.m. For the first time in the world, ballet is broadcast through cinema halls from around the world, in IMAX format.
But what is the format IMAX ? A cinematic technology offering superior image quality, with a much higher resolution than traditional formats, and a much larger, often curved, screen. This format will offer you the possibility of not missing any detail of the Swan Lake from the Paris Opera to the cinema, like hundreds of other people around the world.
This is not the first time that a concert, dance performance or play has been broadcast on the big screen, but it will be the first time that it has been done with IMAX technology. The idea comes from the company Pathé Live, a subsidiary of Pathé Cinéma, which therefore filmed the Swan Lake last spring for the Paris Opera.
Created in 1887 by Tchaïkovski, Swan Lake does not immediately meet with the hoped-for success. Julius Reisinger's first choreography was poorly received by critics. It was only a few years later, under the impetus of choreographers Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov that the ballet triumph. It then becomes one of the most mythical from all over the world, so much so that today it is regularly performed in prestigious places such as the Paris Opera. This success explains why the ballet is broadcast in 230 cinemas in France, and many more around the world, this November 8 and 10, 2024.
