50 bags of 25 kilos of potatoes have just been donated to the Restos du coeur de la Creuse. “A very nice gesture“rejoices Patrick, warehouse manager within the association. This donation from the FDSEA allows Restos du coeur”to have security of supply” for almost a month and share these foodstuffs at the 12 centers across the department. Moreover, these potatoes “are of very good quality and keep very well.“
“An essential gesture and a gesture of solidarity”
The potato is a highly demanded product by the beneficiaries explains Daniel Lefour, responsible for supply at Restos du coeur: “There are multiple recipes based on one potato. You can make lots of dishes without having any cooking skills. So it's interesting in two ways for us.”
Such a donation is not unprecedented since it is the second year in a row that the FDSEA of Creuse offers this same quantity of potatoes through its purchasing group. Christian Arvis, the president of the union in the department declares: “That makes a donation of almost €600 or so. It's not so much the financial amount that counts, it's mainly the gesture. This seems to us to be an essential gesture and a gesture of solidarity. Because farmers, we always stand together.” A donation that comes a few days before the start of the association's winter campaign Monday, November 18.
