Weather: no rain in at least in the next 15 days

the essential
There has been significant rainfall in since the start of 2024. It is currently giving way to calm and dry weather. It's gone to last several weeks.

Calm, dry weather, with no rain on the horizon. This is the weather that has settled over France since October 28. It has been a year since our country last experienced a period of calm weather lasting more than a week. And it's set to last, according to the latest weather forecasts.

Calm weather does not mean the sun shines all day. Autumn is here, mists and fog are back in the morning, particularly in the northern half of France, and in the plains and valleys. And the temperature of the air mass appears high for the season, 5°C higher than average.

This meteorological configuration is explained by the presence of the anticyclone between the British Isles and central Europe. “The high pressures do not seem ready to leave Western Europe,” indicate La Chaîne Météo and Keraunos. Calm weather appears assured again next week in France, with even more sunshine in the northern half thanks to a northeast flow. A few showers could nevertheless fall near the Mediterranean at the end of next week.

Over the next 15 days, anticyclonic conditions are forecast over France and a large part of Europe. Anticyclonic ridges are expected to replenish several times on the continent.

Calm weather for the next 15 days

The reliability of the forecasts suggests the continuation of calm weather over the next 15 days. And by the end of the year? We must refer to the seasonal forecasts which “envisage a dry anomaly for the month of December, with continued high pressures in Western Europe”, specifies Météo Consult. Bad news for the return of snow in the mountains before Christmas…

This weather contrasts with what we have experienced since the start of 2024. The last ten months have been the wettest in France since weather records began, particularly in spring and October. The average accumulation from January 1 to October 31 is 797 mm, or 182 mm more than normal, or almost 30% more precipitation.
