The Chéries-Chéris festival returns to celebrate queer cinema in Parisian MK2

In November, the MK2 Beaubourg, Library et Quai de Seine will experience movement, and receive (very) beautiful people. Tradition obliges, it is once again in the heart of these highly coveted dark rooms of the capital that the selection of the LGBTQIA+ Chéries-Chéris festival. During this anniversary edition, 71 feature films (fiction or documentary) and 80 short films will be in the spotlight and will try to win one of the seven prices awarded by the jury. Here are the productions that should stand out from the crowd.


The favorites we have at Chéries-Chéris

In the seventh art, particular attention is given to the films which open and close festivals. Chéries-Chéris is no exception, and launches its 30th edition on November 19 at MK2 Bibliothèque with the world premiere of Mika Ex Machina. Sign Déborah Saïag & Mika Tard, this investigative film follows a group of queer and feminist friends firmly resolved to solve a riddle but whose solution differs depending on the individual as it depends on each person's experience.

Both comedy and thriller, this feature film is nothing like Egoistwhose screening (still at MK2 Bibliothèque on November 26) will mark the end of a crazy edition for Chéries-Chéris. This Japanese production tells the story of Kōsukea boy of insolent elegance… at his expense, since he ends up drowning in obsession with your appearance. He will hire Ryūta as a personal sports coach, and will let himself overwhelmed by your feelingsuntil the day when Ryūta will suddenly disappear.

In between, a multitude of fictions and documentaries will punctuate these two weeks of intense screenings. We keep an eye on Crossing Instanbula love story between a retired professor and a trans rights activist, and we can't wait to see the documentary Habibi, songs for my friendswhich follows the last cabaret of the Flèche d'Or, an associative and cultural place well known to Parisian night owls.


Addressing the plurality of queer cultures on the big screen

Last year, a few 17,000 spectators followed one another to discover the queer productions ready to shake up cinema lovers: included in the selection, the brilliant The Summer With Carmen of the Greek Zacharias Mavroeidis or even Orlando, my political biography by the writer and essayist Paul. B. Preciado, adaptation of a novel by Virginia Woolf.

A very beautiful vintage has been created to approach queer cultures with completeness et originality, inclusiveness et plurality.
