After the last ten rainiest months ever recorded in France, the presence of an anticyclone allows for calm and dry weather.
It's been more than a week since rain has appeared in France. Since October 28, the arrival of an anticyclone between the British Isles and Central Europe has allowed the return of calm and above all dry weather, unseen for more than a year.
The absence of rain thanks to anticyclonic conditions does not necessarily mean sunshine in the fall, however, due to “the humidity accumulated in the lower layer in recent months”as the advance The Weather Channel* . As a result, cloudy skies and fog are quite common in the northern half of the country as well as in the plains and valleys.
Can this trend continue this week and others to come? According to estimates from the weather channel, “this week of calm and dry weather seems set to last” since the “high pressures do not seem ready to leave Western Europe” and should continue next week, once again guaranteeing dry weather in France.
15 days of dry weather
Other good news for people wanting to enjoy the autumn rays of sunshine, the establishment of a northeast flow will not allow fog to take hold as may be the case this week. “The sun should therefore be much more present, especially in the northern half”assure The Weather Channel. This calm and dry weather should continue “at least the next 15 days”.
This period is exceptional in comparison with weather records since the beginning of the year: “the last ten months have been the wettest in France since records began”affirms The Weather Channelwhich specifies that “spring 2024 was then particularly wet” et “the exceptionally rainy start of October”. Since the start of the year, the meters have recorded a 30% excess rain.
