“We had never seen this”: Taulé stunned the day after a vast anti-narcotics operation

In the afternoon, the village of nearly 3,000 souls saw a number of gendarmes and police officers arrive to jointly carry out this intervention. The latter then canvassed the village, looking for two other people on the run. At this stage, the two fugitives are still actively sought by the authorities while the custody of the two arrested has been extended.

Tuesday, November 5, two arrests on the background of drug trafficking took place in Taulé, not far from the Jean-Monnet public school. The establishment as well as that of Saint-Joseph were confined for a time. (Photo Lionel Le Saux)

She witnesses the arrest of one of the minors

Not far from the center, a local resident witnessed the arrest of one of the two minors. “He was handcuffed calmly by the Psig and did not try to escape,” she says. “Obviously it's talked about in the town… It was impressive but we're not more worried than that. »

Same story at the Taulé bar, Au Gré du Vent. “I didn’t feel particularly panicked. My daughter goes to Saint-Joseph school (she was also confined for a time, Editor’s note.),” says a regular at the bar. “My wife was able to pick her up normally after school. »

The tone is less certain, in front of the Taulé church, where a mother accompanies her daughter, who is not in class, on Wednesday. “It was super distressing to receive the message from the school (sent to parents to warn of the Special Safety Plan (PPMS) which led to the confinement of students for 45 minutes),” she reacts. And to temper: “Fortunately, more fear than harm. And thank you to the police who were reassuring. »

Such agitation, “never seen before” in the town

Identity checks when leaving the village, searches of green spaces… “I haven't seen the town blocked like that since the burial of Alexis Gourvennec (emblematic figure of Breton agriculture who died in 2007, Editor's note.)” , estimates a resident of rue du 19-Mars-1962. Leaving his home in the afternoon this Tuesday, November 5, he witnessed the deployment of a large force of gendarmes and police officers. “There was a dog handler and an armed police officer right in front of my house, they went to search the park a little further away and told us that they were still looking for two potentially dangerous individuals,” says the Taulesian.

Not worried, the man still searched his garden to ensure that none of the two fugitives were there. Not far from there, the Jean-Monnet public school, where the students were confined for a time on the afternoon of Tuesday, November 5.

“There was one of the fugitives who had passed through the courtyard,” explains this resident located a stone’s throw from the establishment. “The gendarmes showed me the photos of the kids (of the two fugitives still wanted at this stage, editor’s note) but I didn’t see any of them… Afterwards in Taulé, it’s not very hard to escape into the countryside », Analyzes this retiree, residing in the town for 48 years. Who blurted out: “We had never seen such agitation in the town. »
