farmers demonstrate Thursday November 7

“Promises broken, we return to the streets.” In a press release, the agricultural unions FDSEA and JA announced that November 7 will mark the start of a series of mobilizations. High-Alpine farmers are “determined to make their voice heard and to obtain tangible commitments for the protection of their profession and their territory”.

“The situation of farmers in Hautes-Alpes is getting more complicated day by day”

Since last year's demonstrations, no progress has been noted by the unions. Again and again, they demand that promises be kept and concrete responses. “The situation of farmers in Hautes-Alpes is becoming more complicated day by day. After years marked by climate pressures and ever-increasing legislative constraints, they are faced with exceptionally serious problems. Natura 2000 zones, designed to protect biodiversity, impose severe regulations which weaken local agricultural operations. At the same time, the lack of maintenance of waterways exposes the plots to devastating floods, leading to considerable losses,” they develop. Tractors will therefore once again be on the roads rather than in the fields from this Thursday morning.
