Festival du Film au Féminin takes place in Réunion from November 25 to December 1. Director Audrey Dana, godmother of the event

From November 25 to December 1, 2024, Island will host the fifth edition of the Festival du Film au Féminin, an annual event dedicated to the promotion of female directors and works focused on female perspectives in the film industry.

With a varied program, the festival's mission is to celebrate female talent, to generate dialogue around important themes and to promote more balanced representation in the world of cinema.

For this 2024 edition, the Festival du Film au Féminin will offer a wide range of films, ranging from feature films (including 4 in preview), to short films, including documentaries and animated films.

The godmother of this new edition of the festival is the actress and director Audrey Dana, two of whose films will be screened on this occasion: “Under the skirts of the girls” and “Men on the verge of a nervous breakdown”, all in her presence.

Note the launch of the first Alice Guy-Indian Ocean Women's Film Festival Prize, on the occasion of this 5th edition. Since 2018, the Alice Guy Prize has highlighted the talent of contemporary female directors in the tradition of the first of them, Alice Guy (1873-1968). Launched by journalist and author Véronique Le Bris, it honors a French feature film each year and will reward a short film by a female director in Reunion Island for the first time as part of the festival.

The festival will also host:

  • The director, author and photographer Agathe Riedingerwhose film “Diamant Brut” will be previewed
  • The actress Malou Khezibi for “Rough Diamond”
  • Director Cécile Denjean for the film “Black Wild West”
  • And, director India Hair for the film “The Barbarians”

Most of these films will be screened in the island's large multiplexes (Ciné Grand Sud, Ciné Cambaie) but also at the Cité des Arts in Saint-Denis or even outdoors in St Leu.
