Mediterranean episode. The state of natural disaster recognized for 21 municipalities in Lozère

Roads closed, streets flooded… The Mediterranean episode who touched the Lozere between October 16 and 20, 2024 had caused damage. According to a decree published in Official Journal this Tuesday, November 5, 2024, state of natural disaster was recognized for 21 communes of the department.

The state of natural disaster was recognized in nearly 400 municipalities at the national level, after this exceptional rainfall in Ardèche, in the Rhône, the Loire, the Alpes-Maritimes, the Yvelines, the Essonne, the Loire-Atlantique, the Eure-et-Loir, Haute-Loire, Corrèze and therefore Lozère.

In the latter department, the municipalities concerned are affected by “floods and mudslides”:

• Allenc, Altier, La Bastide-Puylaurent, Chaudeyrac, Gabriac, Langogne, Luc, Molezon, Mont-Lozère-et-Goulet, Montbel, Pied-de-Borne, Pont-de-Montvert-Sud-Mont-Lozère, Prévéchés, Saint Bonnet-Laval, Saint-Étienne-Vallée-Française, Saint-Flour-de-Mercoire, Saint-Michel-de-Dèze, Saint-Privat-de-Vallongue, Ventalon-en-Cévennes, Vialas, Villefort.

Some of these municipalities had already been the subject of such an order over the last five years. Which means how vulnerable they are… This is particularly the case for Gabriac, Allenc and Molezon (three times) and especially Saint-Privat-de-Vallongue, affected four times in five years.

The victims now have 30 days counting to send their file to their insurance.
