After nine days in a deep coma, an 18-year-old young woman, who jumped from a moving car in Épinay-sur-Seine, died this Monday. The victim, originally from Drancy (Seine-Saint-Denis), fell heavily onto the asphalt and immediately fell into a coma. Transported with a life-threatening condition to Pitié-Salpêtrière (Paris 13th arrondissement), she never woke up.
It was in rather murky circumstances that the victim found himself in Épinay-sur-Seine on the evening of October 27. According to our information, she had a date with a man she met on the Internet. The man, a thirty-year-old who lives in Val-d'Oise, appeared on a social network with a wad of banknotes in his hand. The young Drancean decided to go on her date with a 16-year-old friend, also living in Seine-Saint-Denis.
Appointment is made on rue de la Justice, in the city of Source-Les-Presles. The stranger expected to meet only one girl, according to his version. On his guard, he remained in his vehicle, especially since he noticed that nearby, a small group of young people seemed to be observing him. He smells something bad, according to him again.
The driver and three young people arrested
Only the 18-year-old young woman gets into the car. The driver starts. That’s when she opens the door and jumps in drive.
From there, testimonies vary. According to a first scenario, the victim had just been sexually assaulted by the thirty-year-old and was trying to escape him. In the second, the driver claims to have fallen into a romantic ambush set by young people. When he left the city, several paving stones were thrown at his vehicle.
The man was quickly arrested by the police at his home in Val-d'Oise. He was placed in police custody for 48 hours for “intentional violence using a weapon by destination (his car), with total incapacity for work for more than eight days” and “sexual assault”. At the end of the procedure, however, he was not the subject of any prosecution.
When he left the police station, the young woman was still in a desperate state but alive. Her death could change the situation and lead the Bobigny public prosecutor's office to reclassify the facts.
At the same time, two young men living in Val-d'Oise and Val-de-Marne, as well as the 16-year-old girl, were arrested and indicted for “attempted extortion in a meeting”. Which suggests that the second scenario proved to be the most credible following the first findings. None of these three young people are known to the courts.
