The police searched the premises of Netflix in on Tuesday, November 5. An operation triggered after an investigation by the National Financial Prosecutor's Office. The film and series broadcaster is suspected of tax fraud and working hidden within an organized gang.

Investigators arrived at Netflix France headquarters in the 9th arrondissement of Paris on November 5. The online film and series distribution platform is currently the subject of an investigation for suspicion of tax fraud and hidden work, according to a judicial source which partly confirms the information from Marianne magazine.

Searches are being carried out today in various places, notably at the headquarters of the Netflix companies in France” et “are carried out by investigators from the Central Office for the Fight against Corruption and Financial and Tax Offenses (OCLCIFF), in the presence of members of the PNF“, specified the judicial source.

Other French investigators and magistrates from the National Financial Prosecutor's Office also carried out a similar operation at the headquarters of Netflix Europe, Middle East and Africa in Amsterdam (Netherlands), as part of this investigation.

This preliminary investigation by the National Financial Prosecutor's Office (PNF) was opened against Netflix France in November 2022, for laundering aggravated tax fraud and hidden work in an organized gang. The French branch of the broadcaster had already been targeted by a tax audit covering the 2019, 2020 and 2021 financial years, according to Letter A.

Netflix reacted to this information at the time. “We comply with the tax rules of all countries in which we operate around the world“, indicated a spokesperson for the American company, in the summer of 2023.

With more than 282 million subscribers worldwide at the end of September, Netflix achieved $9.82 billion in revenue in the third quarter of 2024, for a net profit of $2.4 billion.
