Macabre discovery in a house located in Erstroff, in Moselle, approximately 90 km from the Luxembourg border. A body reduced to a skeleton was discovered in an outbuilding attached to a house, as reported The Lorraine Republican. An octogenarian missing for 15 years
According to the public prosecutor, the remains belong to the former owner of the house, who has been missing since 2009. The man was 81 years old at the time of the events.
The body was found in a “difficult to access” part of the outbuilding, under the roof of the latter. The discovery was made by the new owners of the house. The victim's wife having died in 2020, the house was put back on sale and then bought back.
An investigation entrusted to the Forbach gendarmerie brigade is continuing to determine the precise causes of death. According to Olivier Glady, a rope was found near the scene of the body's discovery, which could lead investigators to favor the theory of suicide, which has yet to be confirmed.
