La Rochelle pillar Uini Atonio was called to the list of 42 players to prepare for the match against Japan after the withdrawal of Clermontois Régis Montagne, the FFR announced this Monday, November 4.
Injured at the end of October
Uini Atonio (34 years old, 62 caps), a Blues executive for several years, was initially spared due to a calf injury during the Top 14 match against Montpellier on October 26. He did not take part in the first week of the Blues rally and was replaced by Régis Montagne.
But the Clermontois, left at the disposal of his club for the ninth day of Top 14, finally had to withdraw, the federation indicated in a press release. Starter against Union Bordeaux-Bègles, he was released in the 47the minute.
Coach Fabien Galthié must also do without Toulouse's Joshua Brennan, who was hit on the orbital floor on Sunday in Bayonne in the Top 14. He too was called up last week to Marcoussis and was left at the disposal of his club in the Top 14. He is replaced by Clermont third row Killian Tixeront.
