Two major literary prizes were awarded this Monday, November 4, 2024. The Renaudot prize was awarded to Gaël Faye for his novel Jacaranda published by Grasset. Half of the new edition of the book will be produced by the Floch company, in Mayenne. “We have already started printing. We will work tonight for a first delivery tomorrow morning. The order will be cleared tomorrow evening,” explains Rosabelle Cormier, manufacturing director.
Floch is not the main printer of the work, which is printed by Brodard & Taupin, in La Flèche (Sarthe). “But we helped out with an urgent reprint last week and our responsiveness must have convinced them,” slides Rosabelle Cormier. If the quantity expected for this print run is confidential, the Mayenne company should produce “between 30,000 and 50,000 works” surrounded by the red band, with a rate of more than 3,000 pounds per hour.
Gaël Faye's novel was also in the running for the Prix Goncourt. This finally rewarded Houris by Kamel Daoud. The book is printed at Firmin Didot, in Mesnil-sur-l'Estrée (Eure). Unlike last year, Floch has not been called to participate in the new draw, for the moment. “We expect the Femina tomorrow and the Medici the day after tomorrow,” concludes the manufacturing director.
