Floods in Spain: in the Bas-Rhin, solidarity is organized for the victims

Solidarity is organized for Spanish disaster victims who lost everything after the floods in the South-East of Spain on October 29. The French Secours Populaire has set up a major fundraiser. But near , the small association Maria H'ma also wants to do its part and send one or two vans filled with non-perishable foods and clothes towards Valencia.

Maria Hernandez Kornetzy is at the origin of this Alsatian collection. From her first messages on social networks, she had already received 7 or 8 calls from future donors. “In times like this we have to stick together, it can happen to us too, no one is safe. But after disasters like these, people quickly forget” she said.

Several collection points near Haguenau

The collection points are in Durrenbach, in Haguenau at the premises of Ma Rob'Etoile and in Reichshoffen at the premises of the Bar à Thé. L'association is still looking for volunteers for the delivery of vans and invites people interested in donating or volunteering to call the following number: 06 18 98 22 79.

A month to give

The collection begins this Monday, November 4 and should end at the end of November for a departure of donations to Spain at the beginning of December. Maria Hernandez Kornetzy has already approached the organization Caritas near Valencia which will take care of on-site distribution.

Bas-Rhin popular relief is also calling for donations. Financial donations can be sent directly to the federation, located 5 rue Jean-Henri Lambert. It is necessary to specify “emergency fund”.
