The two women share their adventures and anecdotes with their 10 million subscribers on the social network with the aim of encouraging young people “to take care of their grandparents”.
Their moments of complicity, Fernande, 99 years old, and Mélissa, her 21-year-old great-granddaughter, no longer count them. For two years, the two women have even shared their adventures and anecdotes with millions of people on the social network TikTok.
“One day I said to myself ‘I’m sure these stories could interest more than one person’. I suggested we film, and we started at that point, I would do your nails, you would tell me your story with grandpa”, recalls Mélissa Anton from Aix on BFM Marseille Provence.
“The first video had three million views, can you imagine three million people?” she adds before Fernande replies: “that’s a lot.”
“She gave me hope to live even longer”
In two years, they have attracted more than 800,000 subscribers on TikTok. Their account even has more than 20 million likes. And thanks to these videos, Fernande has regained a taste for life.
“It took her being with me for me to come back to how I was before, how young I was, I’m fine, I think she gave me hope to live even longer,” confides the nonagenarian.
For the two women, this visibility is also an opportunity to transmit to the younger generations “the message of taking care of grandparents, of not leaving them alone”, they explain.
Through their videos, Mélissa has set herself the goal of making Fernande’s dreams come true. For her 100th birthday, she will offer her the wedding dress she never had.
