American presidential election: women at the heart of the campaign

235 million Americans are expected to vote in this presidential election.

In view of the latest elections, American women voters go to the polls more than men. In 2020, 82 million women were registered to vote, compared to 73 million men. And they voted more in favor of the Democratic candidate, Joe Biden.

The themes of this 2024 election outline two models for America: the questions of abortion, immigration, purchasing power, etc. Everything opposes the two candidates, the Democrat Kamala Harris and the Republican Donald Trump.

A journey to hear the words of women and only women

Our reporter Valérie Cantié traveled the southern states of the country: Louisiana, Mississippi, Georgia and Alabama, to collect the testimony of pro- or anti-abortion Americans, of mothers who are doing well or, on the contrary, struggling to reach both ends, convinced activists or still undecided voters.

She first takes us to Alabama, which has become one of the harshest states in terms of abortion, since it is now completely prohibited from six weeks of pregnancy, even in cases of rape or incest. and it doesn't matter how old the mother is.
