This Saturday, November 2, in the columns of our colleagues in Le Parisien, the Minister of Partnership with the Territories and Decentralization, Catherine Vautrin rejected the idea of a return of the housing tax.
This is the end of a rumor that has been circulating for several days. If it recognizes the importance of allowing “communities to better control their resources“, Catherine Vautrin assures Parisian : “there will be no return to housing tax on main residences”.
As a reminder, the latter was removed on January 1, 2023. Problem, according to the observatory of the National Union of Real Estate Owners (Unpi), cited by The Dauphiné Libéréthe cessation of the housing tax had the effect of causing property taxes to explode in many municipalities and led to the creation of a multitude of “additional taxes.
Towards “participation”
Faced with the need to compensate for this loss of resources, the Association of Mayors of France (AMF) proposed the establishment of a “c“citizen contribution to public service”.
A proposal which seems to interest Catherine Vautrin, convinced that it “you have to think about possible participation in living in the city or village”.
“I would like to open a consultation with local elected officials at the beginning of 2025, she continued. We have a nationwide reflection, which has not yet been decided. It is that of the link between the participation of our fellow citizens in the entire use of the city. In any case, France already has a high rate of compulsory deductions and we will ensure that it does not increase, but rather reduce it gradually.”
