The tribute ceremony dedicated to the memory and glorification of heroes and those who died for France took place this Saturday, November 2 at the Céret cemetery.
Orchestrated by Maïté Védis, president of the French Souvenir committee Saint-Jean-Pla-de-Corts-Céret, in the presence of Clara Thomas, sub-prefect, Robert Garrabé, departmental councilor, Denis Dunyach, assistant for ceremonies representing the mayor and accompanied by several elected officials, as well as representatives of established bodies and presidents of associations.
It was Françoise, a member of the French Remembrance Association, who laid flowers for the war heroes. She is the granddaughter of a soldier who fell in the First World War, whose grave is in one of the squares. “We are working to ensure that these soldiers do not disappear from our collective memories. We must awaken duty and overcome oblivion. I regret that the children are not present today, confided the president. I hope that parents will allow them to come to the November 11 commemoration ceremony which will take place at the war memorial at 10:45 a.m.. A call especially since the children will no longer be on vacation during this next meeting of remembrance and remembrance.
