An investigation opened after the discovery of a man's body on a beach in Pas-de-: News

Saturday November 2, the body of a man was found near a beach in the town of Sangatte (Pas-de-). This macabre discovery comes as several corpses of migrants have been recovered. All were trying to cross the Channel to reach the British coast.

Another tragedy took place on the beaches of the Pas-de-Calais coast. The body of an “African type” man was discovered on Saturday, November 2 in the morning. According to information from AFP, an investigation was opened by the Boulogne-sur-Mer public prosecutor's office. The macabre discovery was made less than a week ago when the bodies of three migrants were found on another nearby beach.

La Voix du also reports that the man whose body was found on November 2 was aged 30 to 40 years old. His identification is made difficult due to the state of decomposition of his remains. It appears that she remained at sea for several days before being brought back to the beach by the tide. A few days ago, a patrol boat reported the presence of a possible body adrift off the coast of Sangatte. After this report, a helicopter and boats were mobilized in order to find this body.

A drama which is part of a series of other tragic discoveries

Wednesday October 30, the bodies of three migrants on a beach near Boulogne-sur-Mer were discovered. Furthermore, the same day, a migrant died while trying to cross the Channel.

In a press release, the maritime prefecture “warns anyone who plans to cross the Channel about the risks involved (…) The weather conditions are often difficult there”.

Since the start of the year, at least 60 people have died in attempts to reach England by crossing the Channel. A figure which makes 2024 the deadliest year since the appearance of this phenomenon in 2018.
