Very close to the Porte Saint-Denis theaters, a poetic stay awaits you in one of the three Parisian hotels centered around literature, in the footsteps of Arthur Rimbaud, a few minutes from the Gare de l'Est where the writer responded to Paul Verlaine's call.

Lovers of quatrains and alexandrines? A little of poetry will then please you before going to sleep! And what better way to do that than to have sweet dreams in a literary hoteldedicated to the writer Arthur Rimbaud ! Located a stone's throw from the East Stationin a small, quiet, pedestrian street, the last of these 4-star Parisian hotels belonging to the Société des Hôtels Littéraires welcomes you for a good night's sleep in the heart of the capital and a wonderful (re)discovery of the poet at across the floors.

After Le Swann by Marcel Proust in St Lazare and Marcel Aymé in Montmartre, why was the 10th arrondissement chosen by the founder Jacques Letertre, for the author of “Drunk boat“? Imagine that the writer arrived at the Gare de l'Est from Charleville-Mézières in September 1871 to find Paul Verlaine, at just 17 years old, and try to find a place in the Parisian literary world.

Thus, the entire decoration of the hotel pays homage to him, through rare manuscripts and works of art on display, a library of 500 poems and studies on poetry in many languages and which you can borrow during your stay, or even verses of his prose painted on the walls. Upon entering, we find a beautiful painted ceiling inspired by his main work, a starry night full of symbols and an almost unique portrait of him, to get you into the swing of things.

All that remains is to discover your roomthroughout the floors organized around Rimbaud's poems, from his first writings to the greatest works of symbolism. Each bears a name, that of his friends or of the cities he frequented so often during his numerous travels. In each of these little cocoons, we find on the bedside table a work of the poet to leaf through before sinking into dreams and a watercolor by the artist Jean Aubertin on the wall.

From the classic room to the junior suite, the decoration changes, alternating green patterns to recall Rimbaud's love of nature and his exotic travels, wallpaper in purple tones which evoke his poetic hallucinations, a frosty decoration from “Metropolitan” or “Dreamed for winter“, a quote printed on the headboard or green mosaics with a hammam atmosphere for the most beautiful effect in the bathroom.

Passionate about literature or simply wishing to stay comfortably near a train station, you can benefit from a hearty breakfast at the buffet in a bright room, with fitness room in a vaulted cellar and one of the 42 rooms or suites of this family accommodation. To enjoy your evenings, the bar offers you an experience worthy of the poet, with a absinthe tasting ritualthe famous “green fairy“, of which he and Verlaine were particularly fond for “find inspiration“.
