Eight bastides will be revealed from October 25 to 27 in the department. Beachheads of this new event, the departmental tourism committee (CDT), chaired by Sylvie Chevallier, and the tourist office (OT) of the Dordogne-Périgord bastides, led by Pauline Gasseling, provide “DL” with their motivations.

Fcan he see in this first edition of the F‘est of bastides and wine in Périgord, the fruits of the success of the spring meeting Châteaux en fête ‘ Sylvie Chevallier, the president of the CDT, coordinator of the two events, does not beat around the bush: “We can see a link, indeed’.

And to rewrite the history of the one which has been a major event in the Périgord tourist calendar for four years with more than 95,000 visitors recorded last April. “We wanted to launch it before Covid, but the first edition only took place in 2021. The idea was to be in contact with neighboring departments, such as Lot-et-Garonne, which had asked to be associated with Châteaux en fête. »

Problem: if the Dordogne is full of medieval residences, Lot-et-Garonne does not have the same potential. End of the partnership between good friends, after two participations. The 24 preserves and fully strengthens its manifestation while the 47 focuses on its heritage, much rarer in Périgord, which only has 18: the bastides. Enough, however, to see this as an opportunity to extend the late-season pleasures and strengthen your programming.

“There is a real issue of notoriety and seasonality”

In the wake of “Bastides en fête” from October 18 to 20 in Lot-et-Garonne, the Périgord CDT and its stakeholder tourist offices decide to follow suit. Thus was born the Fête des bastides et du vin en Périgord which will take place a week later, from October 25 to 27. “We said to ourselves that it was a good idea,” confesses Sylvie Chevallier. We wanted to combine the wine with it as well, with an immediate emphasis on the harvest season. With gastronomy, this has been our essential. »

The translation of this opening can be read in the presence of “guests of honor” from the Quai Cyrano in , with its wine house, as well as from the Château de Biron, “whose history is linked to the bastide of Monpazier”. with a common thread: “Valuing the territories with the history of the seasons, the wines, and honoring even medieval-inspired banquets to create a great celebration”.

At the head of the aptly named OT des bastides Dordogne-Périgord, which has four in Bergeracois, Pauline Gasseling knows the history of walled towns like the back of her hand on “its islets and plots of the same size, with wide streets for the passage of shops, and this central square whose aim is to do business”.

“We want to capitalize on our identity rather than just celebrating Halloween. »

Not content with the spotlight shining on the Périgord bastides, the latter sees in this first edition a great opportunity to “capitalize on our identity rather than simply celebrating Halloween”. However, the pumpkin soup will indeed be served, and free, at 6 p.m., in Lalinde, among many activities during the three days. “There is a real issue of notoriety and seasonality,” announces Pauline Gasseling, whose teams work throughout the year to do well through guided tours, torchlight walks and other nocturnal investigations.
