Podor, Oct 20 (APS) – The prefect of the Podor department, Mactar Diop, received on Saturday a donation of food and detergent products offered by the Comptoir commercial Bara Mboup (CCBM) to the populations impacted by the overflowing of the Senegal River.

This donation comprising ten tonnes of rice, cartons of milk and oil was received by the prefect during a ceremony organized in the presence of the Minister of Health and Social Action, Ibrahima Sy.

Mactar Diop assured that distribution will be done “immediately and urgently, according to priorities”.

The Minister of Health praised “the rapid reaction” of the CCBM group and its president, Serigne Mboup, who responded to the call from the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister to help those affected by the floods caused by the overflow of the Senegal River.

“Certainly, the government has released a total envelope of 8 billion FCFA to help our affected compatriots across the country, but the contribution of goodwill is still awaited,” he said.

For the head of the delegation sent by businessman Serigne Mboup, Baye Ndiaga Fall, a former resident of the Koranic school like Serigne Mboup “cannot fail to make his contribution to relieve parents who are in distress. need”.

Ibrahima Sy, originally from the Podor department, visited villages impacted by water, notably Fanaye Walo, Mboyo, Korkadié and Wandé Kadé.

He maintained that the needs are numerous, but the most urgent, he said, is to set up temporary dams by stacking sandbags, to provide food and detergent products.
