A 77-year-old man was killed at midday on Saturday in Verbrerie (Oise), said the Senlis prosecutor’s office, specifying that the alleged perpetrator had been arrested and hospitalized under duress due to his psychiatric condition.
According to a source within the gendarmerie, the suspect is a thirty-year-old with mental disorders and out of treatment.
The police, alerted by witnesses, found the suspect on site. “smeared with blood” who told investigators “having killed his neighbor with a chainsaw”, said Senlis prosecutor Loïc Abrial in a press release.
State “incompatible with police custody”
The man, already convicted in particular for aggravated violence in 2019 and who had completed his sentence, was presented to a psychiatrist in the evening, who declared his condition “incompatible with police custody”, according to the same source.
A murder investigation was opened and entrusted to the Senlis research brigade, with the support of the Amiens Research Section. An autopsy is planned for the beginning of the week, the prosecutor said.
