It is a major route in Saint-Germain-en-Laye () that motorists can no longer use today. The rue de Fourqueux, departmental road 98is closed in both directions of traffic between the crossroads of 4 paths and rue de la Maison-Verte.

For the moment, no one is able to say when things will return to normal. It is following the heavy rain following storm Kirk, on Thursday October 10, 2024, that large cracks and subsidence of the roadway appeared.

Construction site stopped and crane removed

The disorders noted are all the more worrying as they are right next to the Domaine des Lys construction site. Located at 13, rue de Fourqueux, the project, which involves the construction of 62 housing units and a nursery, is currently in the basement creation phase. So it’s still a gaping hole which is located below rue de Fourqueux.

The work had to be stopped in emergency and the crane used on site would have been dismantled and moved. Various works would also have been undertaken to consolidate and secure the site. We contacted the developer L&P Immobilier. He did not wish to answer our questions, sending us back to the City.

Expertise, calculations and corings

Since the discovery of his disorders on the rue de Fourqueux, the city and departmental council services are working together to move this issue forward as quickly as possible.

Tests, expertise, calculations and corings were thus carried out in an attempt to make a inventory and know the work to be carried out.

The Center for Studies and Expertise on Risks, Environment, Mobility and Development (Cerema), which intervened on the dossier cracks which led to the closure of the A13 in April, was dispatched to the site.

“We don’t know what’s underneath”

“The total closure of the street is really a precautionary measurebecause we don’t know what’s underneath. The fear is that the water has indeed gulled, and that there are cavities under the roadway,” comments Élisabeth Guyard, deputy mayor in charge of Roads, Networks and Mobility.

“We are now awaiting the return of the expert opinions to find out more. Before that, we absolutely cannot predict the date of reopening of this major axis for our city. »
